Daily prayer and meditation for Life in the Spirit

Life in the Spirit, St. Mary's 7-week seminar began last Sunday.  Here are a series of daily meditations and Bible verses (for memorization?) designed to carry you through the week, in the Spirit's love.

Day 1:  God is not someone who lives far away in a place you can never reach.  Nor is God a heavenly warden, eager to punish you for doing wrong.  God is a parent who loves you.  God says to you...

"I have loved you with an everlasting love."  Jeremiah 31:3

Day 2: You can know God and how much God loves you.  God wants to be in a personal relationship with you and wants you to be God's beloved child, with no barrier or distance between you.  God promises...

"I will be their God and they shall be my people...and they shall all know me, both the greatest and the least."  Jeremiah 31:33

Day 3: God loves you.  God who created the universe, making all things out of nothing, loves you.  God wants to care for you and give you a better life.  God promises...

"I myself will pasture my sheep.  I myself will show them where to rest.  I will heal the weak and guard the strong.  I will be a true shepherd to them."   Ezekiel 34:14

Day 4: Because God loves us, Jesus came to show us the way to new life, a better life now, and a life that will last into eternity.  For...

"God loves us so much that he sent Jesus, so that nobody should perish, but have eternal life."  John 3:16

Day 5: If you wish to know God and have divine life that is offered, you can.  Just turn to God.  Reach out.  God invites you....

"I know the plans I have for you: plans for peace and not disaster.  I am reserving a future full of hope for you.  When  you call on me I will answer you.  When you pray, I will listen.  When you seek me, you will find me."  Jeremiah 29:11

Day 6: Sometimes God seems so far away.  Sometimes it even seems like we can never reach God.  But God is not far away.  God is very close to you and right now, God is trying to show himself to you in a fuller way than every before.  God promises...

"I am near to all who call upon me, to all who call upon me with sincere honesty."  Psalm 145: 18
